- Reggae and Calypso music is often played in the Bahamas.
- Goombay is a type of music the Bahamians created. Goombay is the Bantu word for rhythm. This type of music was played at the same time when the Bahamas was under slavery.
- Bahamians have music as well as dances. The Bahamians have three dances the Heel, the Bahamian Quadrille, and the Toe Polka.
- On the outer islands Bahamians spend most of their time outside wanting to show the island and tell treasure stories.
- Instead of Carnival Bahamians have Junkanoo. Junkanoo is celebrated the same way as Carnival.
- Bahamians are descendents from West Africa and the English.
- Another celebration is Boxing Day which occurs on December 26 and New Year's Day.
